Samajwadi Party workers alleged that crime is continuously increasing in the state and that common people feel unsafe. They demanded the immediate arrest of all the accused in the Sonu Kashyap murder case and justice for the victim’s family.
Samajwadi Party worker Jeetu Kashyap, who participated in the protest, alleged that the police are avoiding action under pressure from the government.
He said that while the minor accused has been sent to a juvenile detention centre, three or four other accused are still roaming freely, creating fear among the victim’s family. The deceased’s brother has also expressed fear for his life and demanded security.
SP leaders accused the government of adopting a double standard, claiming that a tough stance is taken on incidents outside the state, while the government remains silent on similar incidents within Uttar Pradesh. Before the situation could escalate further, the police detained all the protesters, put them on buses, and sent them to Eco Garden.
